Overview

Jeannette D. Hoit is a professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, and a member of the Program in Neuroscience faculty, Motor Control Training faculty, and National Center for Neurogenic Communication Disorders faculty. She received her Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Arizona in 1986 and later pursued postdoctoral study in the Respiratory Biology Program, Harvard School of Public Health, and the Speech Research Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Dr. Hoit's research and teaching interests include speech physiology as it relates to normal processes, particularly development and aging, and abnormal processes, particularly those associated with neuromotor speech disorders. She is currently focusing her research efforts on the areas of ventilator-supported speech and speaking-related dyspnea.

Dr. Hoit is a certified speech-language pathologist, Editor of the American Journal of Speech-Language Pathology, an avid Grand Canyon enthusiast, and a golden retriever (and beagle) fan.
