Overview
Sherman Charles, PhD, is an Adjunct Lecturer in Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona. Before coming to UA, he earned a MA in Hispanic Linguistics in 2015 and a dual PhD in Linguistics and Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences in 2021, both from Indiana University. His research uses a cross-linguistic approach to articulatory and acoustic phonetics to investigate under researched and typologically unusual speech sounds. In addition to teaching at UA, he is a Speech Scientist for Aural Analytics, Inc. based out of Scottsdale, AZ.
