Our Speech, Language and Hearing Clinic's Advanced Clinical Assistant Program (A-CAP) provides undergraduates an opportunity to gain clinical experience on the University of Arizona campus. Advanced Clinical Assistants will have the opportunity to gain direct clinical hours under the supervision of our clinical faculty.
CAP Guidelines
- Senior status in SLHS at the UA
- GPA: 3.0 or higher
- Earned an A in previous CAP experience
- Recommendation from clinical faculty member in previous CAP experience
What will I do?
CAP students will be involved in a variety of activities including some of the following:*
- Assisting with preparing materials and setting up for sessions
- Planning for therapy sessions
- Providing intervention
- Documenting progress
- Developing early clinical skills
*Particular responsibilities will vary depending on the placement and client needs. The expectations for each A-CAP student will be outlined in a meeting with the clinical supervisor.

How do I apply?

Document - Consider which semester you wish to participate and be prepared to enter your schedule for that semester.
- Participate in recommendation procedures by waiving your right to review your clinical instructor's recommendation.
