New Swallowing Services at Banner
We are pleased to highlight our partnership with the Banner University Medical Center Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery to provide services to adults with swallowing disorders. Clinical Assistant Professor Kathleen Cazzato, MA, CCC-SLP, is the primary service provider for outpatient dysphagia services. Cazzato has worked in various medical settings over the course of her career, and has particular expertise in the evaluation and treatment of swallowing difficulties in adults.
The dysphagia services complement our clinics for voice disorders at the North Banner University Medical Clinic located at 3838 N Campbell Ave, Bldg. 2, in Tucson. Current clinical services include evaluation of swallowing via both Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, Modified Barium Swallow Studies, and treatment swallowing difficulties. The patient population includes those with head and neck cancer, stroke, progressive neurological diseases, and other medical etiologies. Growth of this program offers a unique educational opportunity for students in our Master’s degree program studying Speech-Language Pathology. We are pleased to expand our services to meet to the needs of the community and increase student education in medical speech-language pathology.
