Elena Plante, PhD, CCC-SLP was recently awarded the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa (Honorary Doctorate) from the University of Bergen in Bergen, Norway. Dr. Plante was recognized for her outstanding research in the area of Developmental Language Disorders, a condition that affects an estimated 43 million Americans, both children and adults. Her work was seminal in establishing the brain basis of this disorder, and she has driven changes in the field how the disorder is assessed and treated. Dr. Plante has previously been recognized as a Fellow of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has received that organization’s highest honor, Honors of the Association.
