PhD Candidates Honored by UAScience
SLHS is proud to announce that Laura Coco, AuD, and Chelsea Privette, MS, were recently honored by the College of Science for Outstanding Scholarship and Service. They were selected among nominees from all departments in the College for their exemplary work.
Ms. Privette was honored for her many contributions to our department and university, our region, and our national association. She lead a national conversation on anti-racism in multicultural and bilingual certificate programs in the field of communication sciences and disorders, and shared her insights and expertise on racism and BIPOC communities with the Arizona Speech-Language-Hearing Association, to name just two highlights of a very long list of contributions.
Dr. Coco was honored for her research in expanding access to hearing healthcare for under-resourced populations, as well as for her innovation in making telehealth accessible and culturally responsive. Her work in telehealth has integrated technology, public health, and border community needs at a critical time.
Dr. Coco's and Ms. Privette's contributions in the areas of scholarship and service strengthens our field in numerous ways, and SLHS is grateful that they chose to do their work with us.
