Overview

Kathleen Cazzato joined the clinical faculty at the University of Arizona in May 2017. She received both her BS and MA in speech-language pathology from Northwestern University, and is a Board Certified Specialist in Swallowing and Swallowing Disorders. She has over 20 years of experience working with adults in various medical settings across the continuum of care including acute care, inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient services, and a community re-entry program for survivors of traumatic brain injury. Her areas of clinical interest include assessment and treatment of swallowing and swallowing disorders in adult populations, medical speech-language pathology, cognitive-communicative treatment following traumatic brain injury, and neurogenic communication disorders,  and augmentative and alternative communication for patients with progressive neurologic disease.  

Ms. Cazzato has training and expertise in the completion of Modified Barium Swallow studies, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing, and in the provision of dysphagia therapy services including the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program. She currently teaches, supervises graduate students, and provides clinical services at Banner University Medical Center - North Clinic with the Department of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the on-campus clinic within the department.
