What is Reading UArizona?
Reading UArizona is a grant from the Office of Special Education Programs that supports scholars who will become practicing professionals with expertise in literacy intervention, particularly for multicultural children with disabilities.
Who is eligible?
- MS Student in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences starting in Fall 2026
- Rising undergraduate junior in Mild and Moderate Disabilities in Fall 2026
- People with an unwavering commitment to working with multicultural children with disabilities
- Everyone is considered! We extend a warm welcome to applicants from historically-excluded backgrounds.
Financial Support
- Each Reading UArizona Fellow will receive a stipend (minimum $10K), based on financial need
- Support available for building a professional toolkit
- Fellows making planned progress will be financially supported for both years of their program.
- Fellows will ‘pay back’ the support after graduation by working as a teacher or SLP with children with disabilities. There is an expectation of 2 years of work per each year of support.
