Tyler Schnoor, MS

PhD Student

Tyler Schnoor is a PhD student in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences under the mentorship of Dr. Brad Story in the Speech Acoustics and Physiology Lab (SAPL).

He graduated from the University of Alberta with his Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Linguistics and his Master of Science in Linguistics. Tyler’s research employs governable speech synthesis systems to model paralinguistic variation. He is particularly interested in the use of physiologically grounded techniques for speech synthesis. The motivations for his research include the improvement of alternative and augmentative communication devices, the development of semi-automated speech evaluation technologies, and the advancement of speech synthesis models that more closely align with human speech processes.
