Research Focus: Current work in Dr. Plante’s lab focuses on two areas: Assessment and Treatment of children and adults with Developmental Language Disorder. The lab is involved in developing and evaluating new measures for assessing those with language impairments from the idea stage through providing tools to practicing clinicians. The lab also conducts both basic and applied research related to the treatment of language disorders. This includes experimental studies designed to discover how learning can be made more effective and efficient. We also conduct treatment studies with preschoolers (summers) and school-aged children designed to improve their language skills.

Student Roles: 

  • Support of data coding and entry
  • Collecting data for adult studies of assessment and learning
  • Collecting data for child studies of assessment and learning
  • Serving as a student clinician for treatment studies
  • Serving as a classroom facilitator for TalkMoore summer camp program

Prerequisites: None

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Language Science coursework is helpful, but not required
  • Students with more lab experience are provided with higher-level experiences
