Jessie Erikson Pyarelal, PhD, CCC-SLP

Postdoctoral researcher

Jessie Erikson is a postdoctoral research associate who completed her PhD in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Arizona in May 2023. Dr. Erikson’s research focuses on academic achievement and other outcomes for children with developmental language disorder (DLD). Her dissertation examined the relationship between vocabulary knowledge and science achievement in children with and without DLD.

Dr. Erikson is currently working with Dr. Melissa Delgado, Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Science in the Norton School of Ecology. Dr. Delgado studies factors that influence the psychosocial development of Latinx adolescents. This includes understanding what promotes the academic success and overall well-being of Latinx youth. In the future, Dr. Erikson intends to integrate these approaches into her work on supporting individuals with DLD.
