Sarah Cretcher is a PhD student in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences under the mentorship of Dr. Mary Alt in the L4 Lab with a focus on word learning in late talking toddlers.
She graduated with distinction with her Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics, and a minor in Germanic Studies, from the University of Colorado at Boulder. After two years in the Peace Corps doing HIV prevention in Uganda, she earned her Master of Science in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences with an SLP emphasis here at the University of Arizona. Sarah worked as an SLP in the school systems and pediatric home health in California and Arizona for five years before returning to the University of Arizona to pursue her doctoral degree.
Sarah’s research interests are in treatment invention research for pediatric language development and the role augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) could have in improving language learning.
