Department Head Mary Alt

SLHS professor and department head Mary Alt, along with colleague Jennifer White in Disabilities and Psychoeducation Studies, are leading a 5-year initiative to train MS students and BS students in meeting the literacy needs of children, especially the multicultural needs of children with disabilities. Less than a third of Arizona children in the 4th grade read proficiently, so this training grant will provide the opportunity for Reading Arizona fellows to participate in collaborative coursework and activities that will enhance their abilities in supporting children learning to read.
