SLHS at 36th Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) Conference
Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences was once again well-represented at the 36th Undergraduate Biology Research Program (UBRP) Conference, held this past Saturday. SLHS undergraduates Arena Haught and Elissa Schiff each presented a poster. Students from Neuroscience and Cognitive Science, Mohima Ali and Noah Frazier also presented posters, mentored by SLHS faculty Drs. Elena Plante and Aneta Kielar. In addition to students and faculty, we were represented by alumnus Dr. Amy Meredith who earned her MS from University of Arizona and is now Professor and Chair of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences at Washington State University. Dr. Meredith was attending UBRP not only as a UA alumnus, but also as a proud parent of a student in Molecular and Cellular Biology.
SLHS was also well-represented at the awards ceremony. Elissa Schiff spoke about her participation in the BRAVO program (through which she got to conduct research in Australia for the summer) and was honored as a UBRP graduating senior. Dr. Mary Alt was awarded the Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award, which was presented to her by Ms. Schiff. More on this later.
All in all, a great way to celebrate science and the opportunities it offers.
